Acting with one voice
The Cairngorms National Park is the largest in Britain and includes a wide range of towns, villages and other communities located in the various Local Authority areas that cover the Park.
The Association of Cairngorms Communities can speak on behalf of many groups
and can make its voice heard. Some of the issues on which the Association continues
to provide a voice include :
• challenging the BT phone box strategy;
• challenging the NHS 24 strategy for rural areas;
• influencing ambulance service strategy in rural areas;
• influencing Scottish Water strategy for the National Park area;
• raising housing issues with the relevant authorities.

Achievements and activities include:
• Conferences on community issues
• Recycling projects – aluminium can collections, hot composting
trials

• Assistance with National Park Local Plan consultations
• Assistance with consultations on National Park Housing Strategy
• Representing the Association on LEADER committees
Some Potential Projects
Proposals include
• Cultural Heritage – language and history
• Sustainable Communities – recycling and renewable energy
• Use of the internet (e.g. Video Conferencing) to improve communication
between communities
• Other projects and issues which member communities wish to pursue
